The Fibre Fix: The Secret Fat Loss Hero You’re Probably Ignoring!
Weekly Welcome – from Clare
Every week, I share practical, real-life strategies to help you feel stronger, healthier and more in control, without overwhelm, confusion, or crazy rules. Because small steps? They carry you a long, long way.
The Fibre Truth: It’s Not Sexy, But It Works!
Fibre doesn’t get the spotlight like protein, carbs or fats - but if weight loss, better digestion, improved energy or heart health is on your radar - fibre is your new best friend.
Here’s why I LOVE fibre:
✨ It keeps you full (so goodbye constant snacking)
✨ It balances blood sugar (bye-bye energy crashes)
✨ It supports gut health (hello, happy tummy)
✨ It helps lower cholesterol
✨ It even helps with long-term fat loss - without you even trying
It’s not a fad, not a supplement, not a product.
It’s just smart nutrition.
And most people in the UK aren’t even close to hitting their daily fibre goals.
(We need around 30g… most people get 15–18g a day!)
So… if weight loss is stuck, digestion is sluggish, or energy is flat - it might not be your motivation -
It might be your fibre.
5 Ways to Boost Fibre (That Don’t Require You to Eat Bran Flakes!)
🥣 1. Add - Don’t Remove
Don’t throw out foods - just add fibre-rich ones: berries to breakfast, beans to soups, veggies to pasta.
🍎 2. Go Whole Where You Can
Swap white for wholegrain: bread, pasta, wraps, rice. Small swaps equal big wins.
🥕 3. Choose ‘Crunch’ Over ‘Soft’
Crunchy veg, apples, pears, nuts, the fibre is in the skin and structure!
🫘 4. Beans & Lentils Are Your Budget Superfoods
Cheap, filling, high in fibre AND protein-win-win!
🍿 5. Snack Smart
Popcorn (plain), hummus & veggies, oatcakes, roasted chickpeas - all fibre-rich, filling and fun.
3 Fibre Fails to Avoid
🚫 Relying on supplements instead of food
Tablets and powders don’t give you the gut or fullness benefits food does.
🚫 Not drinking enough water
More fibre + not enough water = constipation city (no thank you!)
🚫 Adding too much too fast
Your gut needs time to adjust, so increase slowly to avoid bloating or discomfort.
Your 7-Point Fibre Boost Checklist
Before you start, ask yourself:
1️⃣ Did I include plants (fruit/veg/beans) in at least two meals today?
2️⃣ Have I swapped any “white” carbs for wholegrains?
3️⃣ Did I have a high-fibre snack instead of a sugary one?
4️⃣ Have I drunk enough water today?
5️⃣ Can I add beans, nuts or seeds to at least one meal?
6️⃣ Have I tried something new (lentils, oats, chickpeas)?
7️⃣ Am I tracking how I feel - fullness, digestion, energy?
